Feldschwarm® (field swarm) project
A paradigm shift
Bigger, faster, stronger. The Feldschwarm consortium breaks with this paradigm that has been applicable to technical development in agriculture up to now. They offer a totally new machinery concept in response to the increasing global demand for food: the self-propelled Feldschwarm® (field swarm). The swarm consists of small, intelligent machine units that can be combined flexibly and can thus be adapted perfectly to the environmental conditions.
Instead of a machine with a normal working width of six to twelve meters, one, two or three technical units of the Feldschwarm® (field swarm) will be coupled together in future and thus make agricultural productivity scalable. Apart from being very flexible and highly automated, the new agricultural technology thus also reduces the impact on the soil while achieving the same yield, increases the quality of food and is based on regenerative operating power.
The first two innovative experimental vehicles from Saxony resulting from the research project will be put through their paces in 2021, built by five medium-sized partners, and significantly pioneered on the research side by scientists from the Chair of Agricultural Systems and Technology at TU Dresden and the Fraunhofer IVI.
The project is being supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
